Extrusion
Silicone extrusion is a continuous manufacturing process in which unvulcanized silicone rubber in the cylinder of a cooled extruder is transported via spiral conveyor to the extruder head. There it is pressed through a built-in nozzle (moulding tool). The raw material shaped by the tool geometry then runs directly into a heating zone located behind the extruder where it is vulcanized. Only then has the product reached its final shape.
Typical extrusion products
- profiles
- round cords
- tubes/hoses
- squares (rectangular profiles and flat ribbons)
